TravelManagers representative for Gymea Bay in New South Wales, Cathy Moir, is thrilled to be a finalist in the National Travel Industry Awards in the “Best Travel Consultant – Retail” category but it’s not about just her own personal satisfaction.
“I see being a finalist in this category as hugely significant for all personal travel managers. We are a significant part of the travel industry in terms of the volume of business we write and we are leading the way in terms of the personalised individual service we offer to our clients. I feel so proud and if I win, as far as I’m concerned, it will be a win for all personal travel managers.”
With over 30 years experience in a vast array of positions within the industry, including working in a travel agency as a consultant to being a manager of a branch of a travel agency to a tour leader, training people in travel and since 1996 as a home-based mobile travel manager and then in 2007 she joins TravelManagers and became a personal travel manager, Ms Moir says the travel industry is her passion.
“Sure it’s competitive and times are tough but I’ve found since becoming a personal travel manager that my clients appreciate the individual service I offer them, in fact they value it immensely so consequently they are very happy to pay a premium for the service I provide them. I’ve never looked back since joining TravelManagers, it was the best decision I made to take control of my life and become a personal travel manager.”
Ms Moir laughs when she thinks about the very early days.
“It’s a lot easier now, TravelManagers systems are highly sophisticated and I can access my files and arrange whatever my clients need wherever I am in the world but as a home-based mobile travel manager in those early days it was quite frustrating dialling in remotely, I was one of the first to do it.”
TravelManagers executive general manager Mandy Scotney says Cathy is one of their stars and deserves her spot as a finalist.
“Cathy works very hard and consistently delivers outstanding specialised service to her clients. Her sales results are impressive every year and are a direct reflection of the belief she has in the value and high standards she provides her clients every time. We’re incredibly proud of her and thrilled her high standards are being recognised as a finalist in what are Australia’s premium travel awards.”
Ms Moir says the main draw card in becoming a personal travel manager was flexibility.
“I wanted to be able to better balance my career and my family. Becoming a personal travel manager allowed me to do this, in fact ironically I had more time as I was no longer commuting. I suddenly became very conscious of how efficient and effective I could be without the distractions you encounter in an office.”
Ms Moir’s move to TravelManagers was very much taking her skills to the next level.
“TravelManagers offer is the best in the market, it is a real win-win and commercially very attractive. In addition to this their support team is outstanding. The support we receive that benefits each of the personal travel managers individually from a marketing and supplier relationship perspective is incredible. Their partner supplier relationships are incredibly strong and result in superior training and educational opportunities.”
