Bring your life back into balance at Bowral Day Spa Gibraltar Hotel, Bowral

“Human touch is conceivably the best known healer of all”

Just six months ago The Highlands welcomed the opening of the new luxurious Gibraltar Hotel. This month the critically acclaimed Gibraltar Hotel begins a new chapter in its history as it unveils the sophisticated Bowral Day Spa created to elevate the art of luxury and indulgence for which the Hotel is already renowned.

Located in the secluded upper levels of Gibraltar Hotel, with five oversized luxury treatment rooms (two with Vichy showers), Bowral Day Spa uses a combination of the Australian LI’TYA and internationally renowned Pevonia Botanica spa care product ranges providing a physical and emotional barrier from the outside world.

“Bowral Day Spa is the ideal setting for rejuvenation and the perfect anecdote to escape a frenetic 21st century lifestyle,” says Karen O’Reilly, Spa Manager. “Our professionally trained therapists provide guests with a peaceful and serene indulgence many mixed with a blend of sensations and experiences derived from the Aboriginal dreamtime.”

Bowral Day Spa is for people interested in their wellbeing.  The decadent range of treatments is world recognised and caters for women, men, couples in the dual treatment rooms and of course weddings and groups.

“A journey at Bowral Day Spa begins with an ancient foot ritual followed by a traditional Aboriginal smoke burning (“smudging”) ceremony to spiritually connect you and your therapist” says Karen.

“Whichever treatment you choose it will be enjoyed in the privacy of a luxurious treatment room surrounded by candles, oils and soothing music.

“After each treatment guests are served rejuvenating Julu herbal tea in The Serenity Room.”

The Spa’s signature treatment is the Mala Mayi Body Treatment given rave reviews by Condé Nast Traveller UK & Spain, Harpers & Queen London and British & Australian Vogue.

The Mala Mayi incorporates a full body cleanse, exfoliation, Mapi mud wrap, an invigorating head & scalp massage and is followed by an exquisite “rain therapy” under the pulsing Vichy shower.  Mala Mayi concludes with the signature massage – the LI’TYA Kodo massage.

The Spa’s extensive treatment menu includes a range of full body exfoliations and desert salt scrubs. Guests can  choose to be cocooned in ochre’s peat muds and sea moss minerals or be wrapped in ocean kelp or  experience amazing head massages, the Caviar Deluxe Facial or Gibbergunya Dreaming spa ritual; or perhaps indulge their  senses under the hypnotic pulsating Vichy showers on specially designed and hand crafted Acacia Cedar wet beds.

Bowral Day Spa also offers pre-natal massages using specially LI’TYA Pregnancy blend of Macadamia & Camellia oils and the comfort of its ‘pre natal pillow’.

The Pevonia Botanica and LI’TYA ranges were chosen specifically for their holistic approach to wellbeing and their commitment to using natural ingredients and environmental sustainability.

“LI’TYA’s and Pevonia Botanica’s philosophies closely mirror the Hotel’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and supporting Aboriginal communities,” says Karen.

The uniquely Australian LI’TYA range is based upon knowledge held by Australia’s aboriginal peoples.  It is 98.5% natural using pure botanical bases from organic Australian native plants and raw ingredients. Most of its native plants are sourced from Australian Indigenous Foods – a co-op that buys from Aboriginal communities throughout Australia.

Pevonia Botanica is an elite natural skincare brand offered by some of the most prestigious spas worldwide.

“Indulgent spa treatments have long been recognised as a way to harmonise the body and soul. Southern Highlands’ residents and visitors are now  invited to indulge their senses in the newly opened Bowral Day Spa at Gibraltar Hotel,” says Karen.
