|Ireland in top ten most welcoming countries to visit.|
Ireland is one of the top ten most welcoming countries in the world, according to new research.
The World Economic Forum issued a competitiveness report and revealed Ireland to be the ninth most welcoming nation, with Iceland taking out top honours.
In 2008, Lonely Planet ranked Ireland as the world’s friendliest country in their Blue List.
Fáilte Ireland carried out a survey among tourists to Ireland, with almost 99 percent of respondents claiming their holiday in Ireland either matched or exceeded expectations.
Those surveyed highlighted Ireland’s suitability as a touring destination, the opportunity to engage with friendly and hospitable people and value for money as other encouraging factors for travel.
87 percent of respondents from Australia and developing markets said that the Irish people and scenery were the main reasons that their expectations were exceeded.
Over 95 percent of all those surveyed claimed Ireland was a ‘safe and secure destination’.
