Etihad Airways will introduce a total of eight new international routes in 2014, increasing its global network to more than 100 destinations.

The Emirati carrier has announced plans to add three extra destinations to the previously announced Los Angeles (US), Dallas (US), Zurich (Switzerland), Perth (Australia) and Medina (Saudi Arabia) services, scheduled to commence from February next year.

The new routes include daily services to Rome (Italy) and Jaipur (India), as well as four flights per week to Yerevan (Armenia).

Etihad’s 2014 network plan also comprises increases in frequency and connectivity on existing routes, with weekly departures forecast to grow by more than 20 percent next year.

“This collaborative model gives us scale and enhanced global market access in constrained regions,” Etihad Airways president and chief executive James Hogan said.

Etihad Airways recently placed its largest fleet order in company history, ordering close to 150 Airbus and Boeing aircraft and almost 300 plane engines.
