Amadeus has revealed plans to acquire Newmarket International, a leading provider of IT solutions to the hotel industry, for US$500 million.
As well as bringing in established key customer relationships to Amadeus, the strategic acquisition of Newmarket will see a strong team join Amadeus that will be significant in strengthening its position within the hotel IT industry, a key target market.
Newmarket, which serves around 22,000 properties across 154 countries, operates in the group and event management segment of the hotel industry and will be operated as a stand-alone business within Amadeus’ Global Hotel Group.
“The combination of Newmarket’s expertise and exceptional customer service, with Amadeus’ scale and global reach will enable us to deliver a comprehensive set of integrated high value products and services to the hotel industry,” Amadeus head of global hotels group Jeff Edwards said.
Amadeus and Newmarket expect to finalise the partnership in early 2014.
