TripAdvisor reveals ten destinations on the rise for 2015

TripAdvisor has announced the winners of its Travellers’ Choice awards for Destinations on the Rise.

The awards highlight 52 spots around the world that have seen the greatest increase in positive feedback and interest from the TripAdvisor community, year-over-year.

Lists were unveiled for World, South Pacific, Asia, Europe, South America and the United States.

Ranked first in the world is the rapidly developing Da Nang in Vietnam while Tumon, located amongst the white sandy beaches of the Mariana Islands, is named the top South Pacific destination on the rise.

Four Aussie cities also made the top ten with Perth, Darwin, Cairns and Hobart placing fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth on the South Pacific list respectively.

Rounding out the South Pacific list were two New Zealand cities consisting of Wanaka and Hamilton.

Award-winners were determined using an algorithm that primarily measured the year-over-year increase in positive TripAdvisor traveller review ratings on accommodations, restaurants, and attractions, across destinations worldwide.

  5. Darwin, Australia,
  6. Cairns, Australia,
  7. Apia, Samoa,
  8. Hobart, Australia,
  9. Wanaka, New Zealand, and
  10. Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand.

Finally the Travellers’ Choice Destinations on the Rise for the world are:

  1. Da Nang, Vietnam,
  2. Silhanoukville, Cambodia,
  3. Limassol, Cyprus,
  4. Ao Nang, Thailand,
  5. Bodrum City, Turkey,
  6. Naha, Japan,
  7. Hurghada, Egypt,
  8. Kazan, Russia,
  9. Manaus, Brazil, and
  10. Eilat, Israel.
