Sunshine Coast showcases ‘natural wonders’ to top European agents during Corroboree
Some of the best travel agents from Europe will be touring the Sunshine Coast region this week.
Held in conjunction with Tourism and Events Queensland and hosted by Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL), the 28 travel consultants will tour the region as part of Tourism Australia’s Corroboree Europe program.
SCDL Trade and International Manager, Jan Foletta said this visit is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the Sunshine Coast and Australia’s Nature Coast region to key travel representatives.
“Attending Corroboree Europe was a great opportunity for the Sunshine Coast and allowed us to meet with over 300 travel agents from across the UK and Europe. As a bonus, hosting these visits will allow the agents to experience our region first hand.
“We know that our naturally refreshing environment is a perfect match with European and UK visitors as they enjoy our natural features of beaches, national parks and wildlife, and as part of this trip we are able to showcase the natural assets that we have on offer, along with the new products such as our recently launched Great Beach Drive.”
Paul Mexson of Travelbag in the UK said, this visit kept him up to date with what the region can offer his clients.
“I have not been to the Sunshine Coast for 10 years and this trip will allow me to explore areas that I have not previously seen such as Rainbow Beach, Mooloolaba and the Hinterland.
“This visit already reminds me of how relaxing Queensland is and will improve my selling skills by experiencing a diversity of Sunshine Coast tourism experiences.”
Genevieve Kendall of Coolum Surf School hosted one of the groups earlier today.
“We welcome the agents and help them to not only learn how to surf but about Coolum and the wider Sunshine Coast region. Many Western markets are showing strong signs of recovery and working with Sunshine Coast Destination, we want to be part of attracting more international visitors to our surf school.”
Some of the group experiences in the region will include:
· Camping at Inskip Point with Rainbow Beach Ultimate Camping
· The Great Beach Drive with Surf and Sand Safaris
· Riding horses on the beach with Rainbow Beach Horse Rides
· Snorkelling and diving with SunReef Mooloolaba
· Seeing native wildlife at Australia Zoo
· A sunset cruise on Noosa River with Noosa Ferry Cruises
· Learning to surf with Coolum Surf School and
· Hiking part of the Hinterland Great Walk.
What is Corroboree?
Corroboree Europe 2015 is the dedicated training event for qualified European Aussie Specialists held in Australia by the Destination Australia Partnership, a joint initiative between Tourism Australia and the State and Territory Tourism Organisations in the European markets. Travel agents from the UK, Ireland and Continental Europe attended exclusive training workshops in Adelaide from 27 to 29 April followed by a familiarization trip with each State and Territory hosting agents on over 27 different famil programs, designed to showcase the diversity and quality of tourism experiences available in Australia.
The training workshop provided the opportunity for participating Australian Sellers to train approximately 300 Aussie Specialists from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK all in one location. As of 1 August 2014, a total of 5,613 agents in this region have qualified as Aussie Specialists. The Aussie Specialist Program is a free of charge online training program for agents to increase knowledge of Australia as a travel destination. In addition to core modules, there are seven State and Territory specialist learning modules.
Australia’s Nature Coast is one of only two regions in Queensland to be included in the Aussie Specialist online training module.
