Lufthansa introduces Premium Economy on Kuala Lumpur – Frankfurt route
Starting from 29 May 2015, Lufthansa is offering the new Premium Economy seat on flights between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt. The Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 is fitted with three travel classes – Business, Premium Economy and Economy and it operates a daily non-stop service between Frankfurt and Kuala Lumpur, offering passengers on this route connection to the largest European airline network with more than 160 destinations.
“We are delighted to have the Premium Economy product available on this route from now on; it provides our passengers more travel class options based on the individual’s needs. Roll-out of the new travel class is Lufthansa’s commitment to provide passengers a five-star service experience and to further strengthen Lufthansa’s position in the competitive international environment,” said Mr. Paurus Nekoo, General Manager of Lufthansa Malaysia.
Passengers travelling in Premium Economy Class can check in two bags, each weighing up to 23 kg, free of charge, which is twice the allowance in Economy Class. For a nominal fee of EUR 25, they can also enjoy the comfortable facilities provided in the Lufthansa Business Lounges.
On board, each Premium Economy passenger will be greeted with a welcome drink. Additionally, passengers will also find a bottle of water and a top-quality amenity kit with practical travel accessories at their seats. Meals can be selected from a dedicated menu, which also offers local Malaysian delicacies and are served on porcelain tableware.
The Premium Economy seat offers a 38 inches seat pitch, offering passengers on this travel class 50% more room compared to Economy class. Each has its own, broad armrest, which allows greater privacy and in total provides about 4 inches more space at the side. The head rests can be adjusted and the side wings pivoted for added comfort and support. Practical features around the seat, including a bottle holder, a power socket and plenty of storage space for personal items, also help to ensure a relaxed journey.
Mr. Nekoo also said, “Passengers can now enjoy both extra comfort and quality service on board at an affordable price. Premium Economy product is great for cost-conscious business travellers and leisure travellers who want more comfort on board, as well as greater privacy with premium service.”
Passengers can navigate the extensive in-flight entertainment program using their own touch screen monitor built into the seat in front. Alternatively, they can use the remote control, which doubles as a controller for computer games. The screens are 11 to 12 inches, which makes them at least two inches larger than the monitor in Economy Class. A wide range of newspapers and magazines complete the in-flight entertainment offering.
