Surfers flock to Ramada Phillip Island for WSL event
Surfers from across the globe will descend on Ramada Resort Phillip Island this month ahead of the inaugural Phillip Island Pro World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series event.
The Phillip Island Pro, being held from October 27 to 31, will allow surfers to gain points and experience on their way to making the WSL Championship Tour, with total prize money of $20,000 up for grabs.
Ramada Phillip Island is the exclusive accommodation provider of the Phillip Island Pro and Resort Manager Damien Larkin said he was proud to support the event, which will showcase the region to local and international visitors.
“More than 110 competitors are coming from across Australia as well as Canada, the USA, South Africa, New Zealand and England to surf at the world-class Cape Woolamai break,” Mr Larkin said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase why this is one of the best surf and holiday destinations in Australia.”
Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson said the event would allow top local talent to test their skills against surfers from around the world.
“It’s fantastic to have the support of the local community and businesses for the first-ever Phillip Island Pro,” Mr Robertson said.
The Phillip Island Pro QS1000 is presented by the Bass Coast Shire and Victorian Government and supported by Westernport Water, Phillip Island Nature Park, Surfing Victoria, Surf Meal Co., Ramada Phillip Island and Coastalwatch.
