Viking launches new 6-day India cruise extension

Viking Cruises has announced the launch of a new 6-day pre and post cruise extension including Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. India’s Golden Triangle extension is applicable on the 21-day Passage to India itinerary and the 16-day Across the Bay of Bengal itinerary.

In Delhi, tour the walled city known as Old Delhi, encompassing the UNESCO-listed Red Fort and the awe-inspiring Jama Masjid mosque. View the 14th-century ruins of the Firoz Shah Kotla, the royal citadel of Firozabad. And visit Raj Ghat, a black marble memorial marking the site of Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation in 1948. Enjoy a rickshaw ride through the bustling Chandni Chowk, India’s oldest market dating back to the 17th century.

In New Delhi, admire the grandeur of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the residence of India’s president. Completed in 1929 and formerly known as the Viceroy’s House. Marvel at the imposing India Gate with its Amar Jawan Jyoti (Flame of the Immortal Soldier) memorial.

Make a stop in the UNESCO-listed grand city of Fatehpur Sikri, and in Agra, experience the serenity of India’s most iconic structure: the Taj Mahal, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In Jaipur, visit the 16th-century Amber Fort, an impressive palace complex showcasing a blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture. Explore the royal family’s residence and a museum of art and artefacts from India’s royal past.

“The incredible history, culture and cuisine of India makes this an ever popular destination for curious travellers”, says Lubica Sibikova, Product Manager Viking Cruises Australia and New Zealand. “With the recent screening of films like The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Lion, Slumdog Millionaire and Viceroy’s House, we noticed an increased desire amongst travellers to experience this multi-faceted country in person. Our 6-day India’s Golden Triangle extension allows our guests to fully immerse themselves in all things India.”

The 21-day Passage to India itinerary departs from Athens to Mumbai on 19 August 2018 from $11,195 per person in a Deluxe Veranda. This ocean cruise includes nine guided tours in six countries. The 16-day Across the Bay of Bengal cruise departs from Mumbai to Bangkok on 8 September 2018 from $7,795 per person in a Deluxe Veranda. This ocean cruise features eight guided tours in five countries. Pricing for both cruises includes a saving of $1,000 per couple if booked by 31 December 2017.

The 6-day pre or post cruise extension India’s Golden Triangle is priced from $2,539 per person.
