Collette’s New Explorations Brochure offers Travellers Small Group Tours with a Twist

Celebrating 100 years of experience in guided travel this year, leading global tour operator Collette has announced the launch of its 2018 Explorations small-group touring brochure which features a range of exciting new itineraries, off the beaten track experiences, boutique accommodation, unique culinary experiences and more choice on tour for travellers.

Whether from the seat of a bicycle, behind the reigns of a sled, clipped onto a zip line or from the comfort of a train, Collette’s brand new small group tours give travellers the key to unlocking some of the world’s less-travelled destinations in-depth and at their own pace.

“At Collette we pride ourselves on our ability to continually evolve and innovate travel experiences for our guests. Our small group tours give travellers access to the more off-road or hard-to-get-to places that large groups can’t get to, while still providing quality service, expert tour guides and more flexibility and choice on tour than ever before,” said Alison Mead, General Manager, Collette Australia said.

In Collette’s new Italy’s Bella Vita tour, guests have the choice to join a guided walk of the medieval city of Bologna or pedal the city streets on a bicycle tour of this iconic market town. In Tuscany, travellers can hop on a Vespa and wind through olive groves and vineyards in true Italian style. Other highlights include the chance to learn how to craft one of Italy’s most famous cocktails, the Spritz, enjoy a home-hosted cooking lesson followed by dinner in historic Bologna and wander the cobblestoned streets on the shores of Lake Como.

The new 9-day Switzerland: Hidden Trails and Majestic Peaks offers travellers the chance to explore Switzerland by train. With a Swiss Rail pass, guests on this tour will experience the exquisite scenery of the Matterhorn, the Alps and the Swiss Riviera, stopping to discover charming vineyards, Medieval villages and indulge their senses with inclusions such as a cooking experience in Neuchatel and lunch at a family-owned restaurant in Lavaux. Travellers on this tour can opt for a fun e-biking excursion on Switzerland’s Absinthe Trail to Maison de l’Absinthe.

Novelties of Northern Spain is another new small-group tour on offer from Collette, taking travellers on a colourful journey through Barcelona, Pamplona, San Sebastián, Burgos and Madrid. The adventurous traveller can join a local guided tour in San Sebastian and ride a funicular to the top of Monte Igueldo, or take a walking tour along the farms, vineyards, and villages of the Caminho da Costa. Other highlights include the chance to see the city of Santander via paddleboard or kayak, a traditional Basque tapas meal and a visit to the famous Guggenheim Museum.

Collette’s new Journey Through Southern France tour is perfect for francophiles, foodies and wine-connoisseurs alike. Featuring a gastronomic experience in Bordeux, the vibrant, world-renowned wine region, a luxurious two-night stay in the grounds of a château in the Dordogne Valley with an optional cycling tour, a farm-tasting and walking tour of Carcassone and the chance to ramble through the French countryside on the hunt for truffles with a local chef, this itinerary is bursting with culture and flavour.

The Explorations small group touring brochure also features the popular Collette favourite, Icelandic Adventure. Resplendent of another age, this destination’s scenery is as dramatic as it gets with its fiery volcanic and geothermal activity. Guests on this tour can explore Snæfellsjökull glacier aboard an Icelandic snow cat, tour the old town of Reykjavík on foot or go whale watching in Skálfandi Bay with specialised zodiac boats, stopping to marvel at humpbacks, minkes, orcas or even the giant blue whales that frequent these waters.

For nature lovers and birdwatching enthusiasts, Collette’s Costa Rica: A World of Nature is ideal. For the lead-in price of $3,469, travellers on this tour will soar through the canopy of the lush rainforests of this exotic destination on a zip line, marveling at brilliantly-hued birds such as the macaw and toucan. This tour also includes a hiking tour of the lava fields of Arenal Volcano and a jungle crocodile safari and birdwatching cruise.

Following the footsteps of history’s famous adventurers and explorers is easy with Collette’s new Explorations small group touring brochure.
