Female owned Hotel Chavanel reflects the charm of Paris
It’s a rare find in the hospitality industry. A woman owned property with a hands on owner. The charm and personality of native Parisian, Sophie Charlet, help create an authentic vibe of a woman with style at Hotel Chavanel.
This modern, contemporary chic boutique hotel, in the 8ieme arrondissement, considered central Paris, clearly offers prime location, and makes a point of deviating from the all to common cookie cutter hotels.
Adjacent to the world famous rue St Honore and surrounded by some of the best shopping in Paris, Ms. Charlet in her own creative way, pays tribute to the savvy fashionistas and elegant haute couture surroundings. This little gem is easy to pass unnoticed, but what a mistake that would be! As a boutique, with only 27 rooms, service is personal and with a smile that justifies its 4 Star rating. Reception staff are friendly and accommodating and rooms are immaculate.
As a visitor to Paris, Hotel Chavanel is within walking distance to the hubbub of Central Paris. Close to Champs Elysee, the Louvre, Place do la Concorde, Boulevard Haussmann with department stores, world famous Galerie Lafayette and Le Printemps. As such, the metro and the RER are steps away. Don’t forget to experience the exquisite food halls of Galerie LaFayette, with pure chocolate, exotic fruits and the finest bakery products in Paris. By day take a tour of the Paris Opera House, Le Garnier, which offers tours to the public and in the evening, take in an opera, where last minute tickets are often available at an affordable price.
Tastefully decorated and functional design, Hotel Chavanel has recently undergone a renovation which further enhances its French elegance. The creative decor mixes genuine haute-couture lace, suit’s wool and bright velvet. The bespoke lace pattern of the ultra modern light fixtures create a fun, inviting ambiance. Given the central location, it came as a pleasant surprise that our room was quiet and most peaceful. Those insulated windows really do the trick.
We loved the eco-certified welcome products, from toilet paper if you can believe it, to organic soaps and amenities, as well as coffee and tea with organic infusions. Slippers and bathrobes made of soft honeycomb cotton exude a feeling of luxury.
With an organic breakfast included, who could ask for anything more. This buffet, likely one of the few fully organic breakfast buffets in Paris, offers lactose free and gluten free products. A variety of freshly squeezed juices, fresh brewed coffee, cheeses, cereals, yogurts, pastry items, eggs, smoked salmon and meats awaits and is a great way to start the day.
1. The breakfast buffet is excellent value and well worth the extra stipend, when one considers the relatively high prices of the neighborhood.
2. Four types of rooms, vary primarily based on room size, ranging from classic room, superior room, deluxe room and junior suites.
3. Junior suites available, offering both whirlpool/jacuzzi bathtub and walk-in shower. Standard rooms offer the option of a rain shower or hand held shower head.
4. A room facing Rue Tronchet will offer more activity and opportunities for people gazing. Rooms facing rue Vignon offer a more tranquil view lovely morning sunlight.
5. Rooms on higher floors are slightly more desirable – worth requesting.
