Carnival Australia Chairman Ann Sherry Participates In Rich Cultural Experience In Port Moresby For APEC 2018
Carnival Australia Chairman Ann Sherry today participated in a richly authentic cultural experience with a group from the Western Islands Province of Papua New Guinea.
Ms Sherry is in Port Moresby for APEC 2018 where three Carnival Australia ships — P&O Cruises’ Pacific Explorer and Pacific Jewel and Princess Cruises’ Sea Princess— are providing accommodation and conferencing services.
She was greeted by members of the Mk Kuri Kala group who are doing daily presentations for summit delegates to highlight their culture.
The group gave Ms Sherry some quick tuition on a drum to join in making music with two of the company’s ships Pacific Jewel and Pacific Explorer in the background.
They also ‘decorated’ Ms Sherry with some of the face paint that is used in their evocative presentation.
“This is exactly the sort of rich cultural experience our guests enjoy when they visit PNG on cruise visits to otherwise hard to reach locations,” Ms Sherry said. “It was a real privilege to meet this cultural group from Western Islands Province.”
In the three-year period 2016-18 Carnival Australia ships will have made 250 calls to PNG ports bringing 400,000 cruise visitors.
