Destination Gold Coast celebrates first Content Awards

Destination Gold Coast named its first storyteller ambassadors at this year’s inaugural Content Awards (DGCCA), created to reward digital and social storytelling.

A total of seven awards including the Content Star Award – deemed the best of the best – were presented at The Island in Surfers Paradise, where 60 representatives gathered to unashamedly celebrate the media landscape of the 21st century.

Destination Gold Coast CEO Annaliese Battista said participation in the inaugural awards exceeded expectation.

“More than 100 people registered to be part of the awards, including amateurs and professionals from around the country, who turned Australia’s holiday playground into the perfect subject matter,” said Ms Battista.

“These awards acknowledge and reward those who are creating authentic content in words, pictures, and video about the Gold Coast in compelling ways that resonate with audiences.

“It is inspiring to see how the destination is perceived and consequently endorsed through the work of this eclectic tribe, and I congratulate the award winners and finalists for their energy and effort.

“The Gold Coast is a destination of extraordinary diversity and we are proud to have fostered an initiative that is unique to an Australian destination marketing organisation,” said Ms Battista.

Destination Gold Coast partnered with leading digital practitioners The Travel Bootcamp – co-founded by Lauren Bath, Georgia Rickard and Liz Carlson – and the travel industry’s global leading media network, TravMedia for the awards.
