New York City is using popular cartoon blue men in little white hats and one little blue woman to create a family-friendly destination.
Pegging on the success of The Smurfs, which is set to be released in cinemas early next month, NYC tourism leaders have released plans to launch a ‘Smurf-tinerary’ that will offer families a list of the locations featured in the 3D film.
Among the attractions include the Belvedere Castle and Boathouse Restaurant in Central Park as well as the Bronz Zoo and Staten Island Children’s Museum.
The city has also designated the period between 25 July and 29 July as ‘Smurfs Week NYC’, organising a range of events across the city including face-painting, 3D mushroom house exhibits and small musical theatre productions to celebrate the launch of the movie.More information on events and activities lined up for Smurf Week can be found on nycgo.com.
